Art
Students receive instruction in Art once a week. Students are introduced to many different types of media, and their work is displayed proudly throughout the school building.
Music
Our music curriculum is a Kodaly based program designed by the Baltimore Children’s Choir. Musical concepts are taught through singing, listening, and movement. These concepts are further reinforced through musical games, songs, composition and performance opportunities. We integrate our programming with the church year for Christmas, lent and Easter, and teach our songs in a duo-lingual setting. Secular highlights of the year include an emphasis on Spanish Heritage Month, Black History Month, and Women’s History Month to ensure that all students feel seen and heard. Through singing of songs and experiencing different performances via technology, students are taught music history, theory, and aural skills. The students also use recorders, ukuleles, and various percussion instruments to further enhance their music education.
Baltimore Children’s Choir
The Baltimore Children’s Choir is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization in Maryland. The organization shares choral music from a variety of traditions with a broad and diverse audience. We make choral music accessible to children in the greater Baltimore area, in a positive, child-centered environment. We share choral music with students, families, individuals with disabilities, and the elderly through outreach to schools, groups that provide services to children and families, and other relevant organizations and institutions, including those that serve seniors.
